# Facts directory

The facts directory of jolandaspiess.ch contains fact pages for the entities of this website. Each page describes exactly one entity: a person, a legal instrument, a publication or a document collection.

The pages are descriptive, not promotional. They state the definition first, list the core facts as attribute and value pairs, distinguish the entity from entities it could be confused with, link the evidence and carry a visible date of the last editorial review.

The directory complements the [case dossiers](/en/#faelle) with a layer of facts: the dossiers describe how the proceedings unfolded, the fact pages define the entities and terms the dossiers refer to. Terms of Swiss media law are explained in the [glossary](/en/glossary).

## Facts directory: structure of the entries

Every entry follows the same structure. The heading states the name of the entity, not a claim about it. The first paragraph defines the entity, places it in its field and distinguishes it. Then follow the core facts as attribute and value pairs, the substantive sections, the distinction from entities it could be confused with, frequently asked questions, a citable one-sentence definition and the sources.

The sections are written so that each remains understandable on its own. Anyone reading or citing a single section can tell which entity it concerns. The machine-readable data in the page head contains the same statements as the visible text and no additional ones.

## Facts directory: maintenance and review

Jolanda Spiess is responsible for content and maintenance. The pages are reviewed at least every six months, and always when the status of proceedings, the legal finality of a decision, a name form or a role changes.

The visible review date is changed only when an editorial review has actually taken place. A date that increments with every technical deployment carries no information.

## Facts directory: distinction

The facts directory is not a press release and not a statement. Texts by Jolanda Spiess that take a position are published elsewhere, for instance in the [personal statement on the High Court ruling](/en/cases/ringier-blick#statement).

Nor is it an official source. What is binding are the decisions of the courts themselves; their full texts are held in the [judgment index](/en/facts/judgment-index).

And it is not a glossary. Terms of Swiss media law are explained in the [glossary](/en/glossary); the facts directory describes entities.
